MAD et LEN

MAD et LEN (pronounced “Madelen”) is a fragrance brand born in the small village of Saint-Julien-du-Verdon in the south of France.

In a small laboratory, artisans make everything by hand, down to the vessels, boxes and labels, and the scent essences are produced by distilling and extracting natural materials such as flowers, wood, stems and fruits carefully selected from around the world.
No silicone, parabens, PEG, artificial colorants or petroleum-derived ingredients are used, and no animal-derived ingredients other than beeswax.

The brand name MAD et LEN comes from the French pastry, the madeleine.
In Marcel Proust's novel In Search of Lost Time, there is an episode in which eating a madeleine (Madeleine; written as “mad.len” in the text) dipped in tea brings back memories of the past.
It is the famous scene that later gave rise to the term “Proust effect”, for recalling memories and emotions from taste and smell, and it forms the foundation of the brand's world view and its perfumery.
