Botanical Syrup Limited Edition Bergamot 2025 200mL
“Drink the Scent”: a Seasonal Limited Flavor of Non-Alcoholic Drink
Under the concept of “drinking scent,” the seasonal limited flavor “Bergamot” of Botanical Syrup Kusawake, inspired by gin, the spirit.
The 2025 version of the bergamot flavor, released in limited quantities every winter, has finally been released.
Just as one enjoys whiskey neat, we would like you to take just a little of the liquid into your mouth and enjoy the scent as it changes, the scent that passes through the nose, and the scent of the empty glass after drinking.
We chose bergamot as the fitting scent for that.
We thought that even without alcohol, the bewitching and appealing scent of bergamot could achieve it.
The scent of this ingredient is contained in the peel, while the flesh has a pleasant bitterness.
We devised a recipe that makes good use of both.
Apart from the scent that comes to the fore, a core is needed for the “flavor.”
So we decided to use ginger, the all-rounder that carries the “taste.”
With bergamot and ginger, an appealing scent, bitterness and a warm flavor came together.
What remains is acidity and sweetness, so we add lemon and vanilla.
The acidity is kept just enough to gently tighten the whole, and the vanilla is added carefully so as not to overtake the scent of bergamot.
Kusawake and Hinata are delicious mixed with sparkling water or spirits such as gin, but this one we recommend you try neat.
Pour just a little into your favorite glass and enjoy it by rolling the scent around in your mouth.
It may be nice to have alongside you as a dessert after a meal, before bed, or while reading a book.
Of course you can enjoy it yourself or with your family, and since it is easy to drink and enjoyable for many people while savoring the scent, we believe it will also be greatly appreciated as a small gift or present.
It is a drink we especially hope fragrance lovers will try at least once.
Without affectation, in an honest way,
we draw out and bring into harmony
the reason (wake) of each of the herbs, roots and bark

A distinctive scent
A scent that works behind the scenes
A scent that links ingredients together
Each has its own character, and its own compatibility.
When they are a poor match, the scents cancel each other out and an unpleasant scent appears.
People are the same.
We want to spend time with people we get along with as much as possible.
An environment that needs us is best.
We apply this thinking to the combination of ingredients as well.
Consider the strengths and role of each.
Prepare the environment to bring out the intended scent.
Use only what is necessary.
The scent born from ingredients combined in this way is very beautiful.
There is a reason we place emphasis on scent.
It is the difference between “liquor” and “juice.”
It is not only the presence or absence of alcohol.
Liquor is a drink in which one enjoys the scent, while juice is a drink in which one enjoys the taste.
Of course juice has a scent too, but when drinking apple juice or grape juice,
“The acidity is just right,” “The light sweetness makes it easy to drink”
comments about taste, I think, account for most of what people say.
On the other hand, when drinking wine or whiskey,
“It smells like berries,” “The scent of the cask is distinct”
comments about scent are probably more common.
Here lies the clear difference between liquor and juice.
If we make a drink rich in scent, it should captivate people even without alcohol.
With that in mind, Kusawake is built around scent.
And there is one more crucial point.
Not trying to make it within an existing category.
We do not squeeze it into easy-to-explain categories such as craft cola or ginger ale.
We want to stay outside the realm of categories that are easy to convey to others, trends that anyone would like, and designs that anyone can understand, bound by no existing frame whatsoever, and create freely.
That is what we think.
Even without relying on trends or ease of understanding, if we make something delicious, there will surely be people who understand.
Even for a product whose nature is entirely unclear at first glance, Kusawake exists thanks to the customers who buy it and sense something in it.

Of course it is lovely to enjoy at home, and it is also highly recommended as a gift. Seasonal limited flavors are also available.
