Signature Trousers is a line from DIOGUARDI, a trouser tailor that makes pants only.
Made from materials selected by the designer and tailored in collaboration with a tailor, the line's debut collection, "Mr. Flow," comprises nine styles, from 001 to 009.
This one is "006 Right Pin," an asymmetrical wide-leg pair with a safety pin at the right side of the waist.
Look at the quality of the tailoring and fabric and, above all, the silhouette when worn, and you will see that they wear far more beautifully than you might imagine.
Below, we introduce this piece based on what designer Daniel Dioguardi told us directly about its concept and design.
Built on the construction of traditional tailored trousers, 006 takes as its theme the shifting of some of that tradition's rules.
The asymmetrical pattern, cut generously on the right side, is folded over at the right waist and fastened with a safety pin, so that it covers part of the pocket.
While retaining elements of tailoring, the waistband is deliberately designed narrower than that of traditional tailored pants, with the intention of toning down their structure and formality.
Rather than a strong design statement, this asymmetry is designed to feel soft and natural, making the most of the wide pattern and the smooth fabric.
From the generously cut, folded waist, the structure opens out naturally toward the hem, so the hem width is asymmetrical as well.
Walk in them, and you should feel the graceful, natural movement of the fabric.
The most important detail of 006 is the safety pin at the right waist, from which the piece takes its name.
It is not merely an accent: the pin itself serves as part of a belt loop.
All the belt loops begin not directly at the edge of the waistband but about 1.5cm below it.
As a result, when you fasten a belt, it sits slightly below the waistband, and the safety-pin construction becomes part of the belt loop itself.
006 also deliberately has a generous waist, so you can wear it lower on the hips for a flowing silhouette, or at the high waist with a belt, letting the waist gather naturally.
These details give the trousers as a whole a freedom that lets their expression change with the shape of your body and the way you wear them.
