"An elegant collection of scents that heightens your own allure": Floridita's Night comes from OBVIOUS's High Standards collection.
El Floridita is a historic bar-restaurant in Havana, Cuba, known as a favorite of the great writer Ernest Hemingway. This work depicts a night there, ringing with passionate Cuban music.
Built on cigar and rum, it expresses not burning smokiness but the natural richness of cigar leaf before it's lit.
Warm spices of cardamom and saffron layer over woody and leather nuances, and with an elusive sweetness, a quiet intoxication lingers on the skin.
In hot seasons like summer we tend to reach for light scents, but this is a deep one you'll want to wear at night anyway.
Story
Three hours of sweating over the Remington.
The "Papa Doble" vanishes from the glass faster than the words appear.
Luckily, this is the Floridita, practically my home.
Neither the blaring salsa nor the heat clinging to my skin distracts me anymore.
This fisherman's story has, for now, lost its way.
Is it a reckless escape, a quest, or a dependence?
In the end, it's the same as love.
Passion, intoxication and obsession.
She, at the end of the bar, also holds both strength and fragility within her.
Her arrival had already been announced by a breath of patchouli and a hint of fresh, spicy cardamom.
The moment my skin, soaked in vetiver and rum, first meets the sillage of her goddess-like scent.
She nudges the wooden stool with the tip of her foot and says:
"You're the famous Hemingway, aren't you?"
The brief moment she and I each light our Montecristo.
In that instant, I begin to wonder
whether she is nothing but a phantom born of my imagination.
A breath of saffron, grace, the scent of myrrh and freedom.
Does it really exist outside my mind?
