This shape is actually a new design, being released by the brand for the first time.

Although hooded parkas tend to evoke strong associations with outdoor gear or a casual aesthetic, this piece takes on a distinctly city-ready look, thanks to its incredibly soft, smooth cotton-silk blend fabric and elegant navy color, giving it an unintended sophistication that naturally comes through.

The fabric is washed using a specialized washing machine, of which only one operates in Japan, giving it a soft, subtly brushed texture. At the same time, thanks to its high-density weave, it is also waterproof.

The lining is made from the same khaki cotton-silk blend fabric used in the Lounge Sai exclusive model of Relaxed Mac Coat from the 24FW season — a fabric I personally love. It has an incredibly smooth, almost melting texture with a soft, subtly brushed finish that feels amazing to the touch.

When I saw this piece at the exhibition, I was immediately drawn to it. However, we requested one custom modification from the original design as a store-exclusive detail.

That modification is the lining of the hood. Originally, the inside of the hood was lined with a striped shirting fabric — the same fabric as the shirt shown in the styling images. But for our version, we asked to have the entire lining, including the hood, unified in khaki.

Although it's a minor fabric change, I personally feel this version makes the piece even more refined and elegant.

The front features horn buttons and a double zipper, and there's also a drawstring at the waist, allowing you to adjust the silhouette as you like.

In terms of details, the two buttons at the neck — one large and one small — are handmade ceramic buttons. Since the glaze finish varies from piece to piece, some may have more yellow tones, while others may lean toward deeper browns, giving each button a unique character. I love how this organically crafted element is incorporated into such a refined piece — and the fact that it's done subtly, without being overly emphasized, strikes the perfect balance.

The front features horn buttons and a double zipper, and there's also a drawstring at the waist, allowing you to adjust the silhouette as you like.

The sleeves are also thoughtfully designed, with a single tuck at the elbow and two tucks at the cuff, creating a relaxed yet structured shape around the arms. There are two buttons at the cuffs, and an elastic strap allows you to cinch the sleeves for a more fitted look.

Beyond the design details, I feel that this piece is one of the most elaborately crafted works in Aviva Jifei Xue's collection to date, even when looking at the brand’s past creations.

The design motif is likely inspired by the M-64, the French military field parka, but it has been reinterpreted through Aviva Jifei Xue’s signature choice of fabric and refined detailing, resulting in a sophisticated take on a military piece.

It’s a versatile outerwear piece that works not only in spring but also in autumn, and pairs effortlessly with shirts, T-shirts, or knitwear alike.

Personally, I imagine wearing this piece open at the front, casually thrown on, or buttoning just the top or second button from the top to create an A-line silhouette. And when caught in sudden rain or when the temperature drops, I’d like to fully close the front using both the zipper and buttons.

It’s definitely an outerwear piece I would recommend even to those who don't usually wear parka
