The pieces made from this fabric were displayed near the entrance of the showroom.
Drawn to the subdued multi-colored check pattern featuring navy, brown, and white tones, I picked one up, and I still remember audibly gasping at how incredibly lightweight the fabric was.
The designer herself mentioned, "I tried to make a shirt with an incredibly lightweight fabric," which speaks to just how light this material is.
The ultra-lightweight, softly brushed gauze fabric, composed of cotton, viscose, and linen, offers supreme comfort.
The subtle texture of the remaining wrinkles also enhances its overall atmosphere.
The silhouette features Aviva Jifei Xue's signature wide box shape.
Additionally, a center tuck on the back ensures extra fabric volume, allowing the shirt to catch the wind and further emphasize the lightness of the gauze fabric.
This is the perfect piece even for those who prefer not to expose their arms during the summer.
The buttons are matte black horn buttons, slightly larger and thicker than usual.
Instead of using thin, small buttons, the choice of slightly oversized buttons adds a charming touch.
The same buttons are also used on the cuffs, and rolling up the sleeves creates an even lighter look.
Given how lightweight the fabric is, leaving the shirt unbuttoned down to the second button also works beautifully.
Once again, we've made a subtle modification to the original design for this order — specifically, the chest pocket.
In the original design, the top edge of the pocket featured piping with the same fabric placed on the bias.
For our version, we removed the piping to create a more seamless look.
It's a very slight change, but by eliminating the piping, the shirt takes on a much more refined and mature impression — which I personally prefer, as I tend to favor simplicity.
This shirt works perfectly as a standalone piece or as an accent under outerwear.
True to its name, "Earthen Check Gauze," the multi-colored check pattern is composed of earth tones, making it easy to pair with navy, brown, and even black items — it complements a wide range of outfits effortlessly.
I've written quite a bit about this piece, but in the end, I think this is a shirt you can decide on simply based on the beauty of the fabric and the color palette, rather than getting caught up in specific design details.
I loved this fabric so much that I also had a short-sleeve version specially made, even though it wasn’t originally part of the collection lineup.
You can choose based on your preference — whether you want a long-sleeve shirt you can wear year-round, or a breezy, airy short-sleeve option for the hot summer months — while also considering how it might pair with what you already own.
(The short-sleeve shirt is not listed on the website yet, but I plan to add it once the weather gets warmer and short-sleeve season kicks in. If anyone is interested in ordering it before then, feel free to contact me — I’m happy to accommodate.)
