Renato 1909 - Natural

- Groppone full grain leather
- Made in Italy

Renato 1909, an ankle strap sandal by Guidi Rosellini, has arrived for the summer season.
True to Guidi Rosellini’s approach to creating timeless classic shoes, this pair strips away decorative elements and makes the most of the texture of the leather itself, along with the traces of handcraft that remain throughout the piece.

As you can see, the design is simple, consisting of a wide front band and an ankle strap.
Minimal in appearance, yet designed with a secure sense of hold, it is a composition that feels both reduced and complete, with nothing excessive and nothing lacking.
It feels like the most natural shape for Guidi Rosellini to arrive at when interpreting sandals as “footwear = tools.”

It works well not only with wide pants and full-length trousers, but also with cropped pants that show the ankle, or with shorts.
As it is a sandal worn barefoot, it adds an immediate lightness even when styled with darker clothing.

The Groppone full grain leather used for this model is made from a part of cowhide known for its thickness, firmness, and dense texture.
It has both a rugged character and durability. The natural color will gain more shine and depth as it is worn, gradually softening and molding to the foot, developing into a pair unique to its owner.

As with many Guidi Rosellini pieces, this pair comes with familiar accessories including a dedicated cream, storage bags, and printed material about the brand.
The leather already contains a generous amount of oil, but when dryness becomes a concern, applying the included cream will help it become even softer, more supple, and better adapted to the foot. Please use it as needed.

As each pair is built on a different last, it is difficult to make a general recommendation regarding sizing. However, for the Renato 1909, I would generally recommend choosing one size down from your usual size.

At first, the front band and ankle strap may feel slightly snug in the smaller size. However, with regular wear, both the straps and the front band will gradually stretch and conform naturally to the shape of your foot.
In particular, you can expect the ankle strap to stretch by approximately one adjustment hole over time.

The pair shown in the photo above has been worn for approximately one month.
Even after this relatively short period, the originally light natural leather has already begun to deepen into a rich amber tone, revealing the beautiful patina that will continue to develop over time.
The fit is also more secure than you might expect. As the ankle strap can be adjusted like a belt, tightening it properly provides a reassuring and stable hold around the foot.
For those looking for a timeless pair of sandals for the summer season, we highly recommend giving this model a try.

※All Guidi Rosellini pieces are made using natural leather. Variations such as uneven dyeing, wrinkles, small marks, veins, and differences in the surface texture are characteristic of the material. We kindly ask for your understanding and hope you enjoy these natural individual differences as part of the piece.
※Due to in-store try-ons, the QR code sticker on the outsole may show signs of dirt or peeling.
※Please note that, due to transportation from Italy, the packaging box may show marks or damage, and the included cream tin may have dents.
Guidi Rosellni
Founded in 1896 in Tuscany, Italy, Conceria Guidi e Rosellini was established as a leather tannery and has since built a reputation as one of the world's leading tanneries, supplying materials to many renowned brands.
At the time, Tuscany had easy access to affordable cattle, and the hides of female calves, in particular, were known for their high quality and durability. Against this backdrop, the company also produced work boots designed for laborers and hunters.
Today, Guidi Rosellini presents a collection that revives those original boot designs and traditional craftsmanship for the modern era.
