The French high-luxury fragrance houseAtelier Materiwill release three new scents from October 16.
A Highly Concentrated Fragrance With Long-Lasting Scent
Unlike the brand's Eau de Parfum collection so far, these new scents are what's called Extrait de Parfum, with a concentration of 30%.
Other highly concentrated Extrait de Parfum we carry includeversatile parisand.Oddityand their defining feature is how long the scent lasts.
Depending on how, how much, and where you apply it, it varies, but it's said to last longer than Eau de Parfum, meaning you need to reapply it fewer times a day.
For that reason, Extrait de Parfum is often sold in smaller amounts, and these three new ATELIER MATERI scents also come in a 50mL size, half the usual 100mL bottle.

Comparing the bottle sizes from left to right: the 10mL travel size, the 100mL Eau de Parfum, and now this Extrait de Parfum.
The smaller the bottle gets, the more its rounded, corner-free shape stands out, and I feel it becomes even cuter.
A Substantial Metal Bottle Cap
The Eau de Parfum bottle cap was made of concrete, handcrafted piece by piece by artisans, but this new cap is gold, made from an alloy called Zamak, made up of zinc, aluminum, magnesium, copper, and other metals.
Because of its small size, it might not look all that heavy at a glance, but it's actually heavier than the concrete cap, and holding it in your hand you can feel real substance and weight.
For reference, the concrete cap weighs around 70g, while this new metal cap weighs around 95g.
Both give a satisfying sense of ownership.
Three New Scents
That's been a long preamble, but from here I'll introduce each of the three scents.
Each has its own distinct character, forming a kind of triangle where each one belongs to a different scent category.
Burgundy Oud

This is the heaviest of the three new scents, and probably the one where people's likes and dislikes split most clearly.
It takes Oud, a deep woody note many perfume lovers will already know, and finishes it off in a sexy way through harmony with the sweet tartness of black currant (cassis).
Basically all of these scents can be worn by anyone, but if I had to say, this one leans masculine, and I think many people would find it a cool scent with a sense of sensuality and refinement.
Of the three, this one also felt like it lasted the longest.
"This is a modern, distinctive interpretation of oud, giving it a Parisian twist and heightening its elegance with berry notes. It's a journey between tradition and modernity, between East and West." — Véronique Le Bihan
| Top Notes | Burgundy Black Currant Bud Absolute, Guatemalan Cardamom Essence, Bergamot Essence |
| Middle Notes | Geranium Essence, Magnolia Essence, Davana Essence |
| Base Notes | Oud, Amyris Essence, Leather |
Néroli Hasbaya

Taking as its theme muhallebi, a pistachio-based dessert representative of Lebanese cuisine, this scent is a floral gourmand where the creamy sweetness of pistachio and almond coexists with the soap-like cleanness of neroli and orange blossom florals.
It sits about in the middle of the three in terms of weight, and whereBurgundy OudBurgundy Oud might be described as masculine, many people may feel this one leans feminine by comparison.
Some people may think of gourmand scents as too sweet, but as with ATELIER MATERI's signature white-cacao scent,Cacao Porcelana Cacao Porcelana, this one too finishes with a refined sweetness.
It has a balance that makes you realize you never imagined pistachio and florals could be this pleasant together, and I think that's what makes it a very ATELIER MATERI work.
"Néroli Hasbaya is inspired by the refined, delicate scent of muhallebi, a dessert representative of Lebanese cuisine. It's a delicate dessert flavored with orange blossom and pistachio crunch, a true invitation to travel!" — Véronique Le Bihan
| Top Notes | Neroli Essence, Bitter Almond Extract, Pistachio |
| Middle Notes | Orange Blossom Absolute, Damask Rose Absolute |
| Base Notes | Peru Balsam, Sandalwood, Iris |
Ambre Papier

This one is inspired by Armenian paper, a traditional "paper incense" containing benzoin resin.
Compared with the other two, it's neither too heavy nor too light, and could be called a more neutral scent.
The sweetness of the resin, spice, and jasmine that occasionally peeks through.
It's a unique, calming scent that brings to mind layers of unbleached paper.
| Top Notes | Madagascar Black Pepper, Jamaican Pimento, Italian Red Mandarin |
| Middle Notes | Jasmine, Myrrh Essence Absolute, Saffron Extract |
| Base Notes | Siam Benzoin Resinoid, Haitian Vetiver Essence, Tonka Bean Absolute |
