Made in Matsumoto, Nagano, with the concept of "drinking a scent," theBotanical Syrup Kusawakebrand'sits seasonal bergamot, has arrived at our shop.
This bergamot is normally released as a limited edition every winter, but this year it arrived a bit late, after spring had already begun.
Apparently the release was delayed because they were experimenting to pursue an even better flavor balance, but in the end they came full circle to the conclusion that nothing more needed to be added, and this was already good as it was.
Last season the acidity came from lemon juice alone, but this time it's blended with kabosu juice as well, making the acidity softer and more multi-dimensional — so while the base flavor carries over, it's been given a solid upgrade.

With Kusawake and Hi, we'd normally suggest mixing it however you like — with soda water, with alcohol — but for this bergamot, just as the maker says, "please do try this one straight," I think it's really at its best served straight.
It has the freshness of citrus and an exquisite bitterness, yet the flavor is mellow and soft, without any harsh edge.
I think I've made something worthy of the name "drinking scent".
Do try this one straight.
Pour just a little into your favorite tiny, tiny glass and enjoy it as if rolling the aroma around your mouth.
It might be nice instead of dessert after a meal, before bed, or alongside a book.— Kusawake
It's a seasonal item, so we hope you'll pick one up while stock lasts.
