The Paris fragrance brand we've introduced before, ATELIER MATERI.
Here, we'll introduce the brand ATELIER MATERI, along with its 11 Eau de Parfum and 4 Extrait de Parfum — 15 scents in total.
The first three creations in the Extrait de Parfum collection, released in October 2024, are also covered in detail in a separate article.
What Is ATELIER MATERI?
The brand's founder, Véronique Le Bihan, spent 12 years in cosmetics and fragrance development before, in 2019, founding the high-luxury perfume house ATELIER MATERI.
The name ATELIER MATERI combines the word atelier (meaning "workshop") with matière, a Breton word from Brittany in northwestern France meaning "material."
Well versed not only in fragrance but also in architecture and design, she focuses on what they all share — "transforming materials" and "the artisans who transform them" — expressing a respect for the raw materials essential to making things, and for the craftsmanship behind them.
The brand also keeps its distance from general trends and market-calendar schedules, pursuing the creativity it believes in.
Its collections are built on a philosophy of "Slow Luxury" that never compromises on product quality.

The Scents of ATELIER MATERI
As mentioned earlier, ATELIER MATERI’s greatest devotion is to "materials" (ingredients).
From traditional to rare ingredients, the brand carefully selects sustainable natural raw materials, produced by growers and suppliers who are mindful of the environment and never threaten the land's natural beauty or resources.

In pursuit of expressing natural elegance alongside bold contrast, the perfumer carefully layers the fragrance using painstakingly chosen materials.
Object Design
The bottle, memorable for its deep blue color, draws its design from "Less is More" — the idea left behind by Mies van der Rohe, one of the 20th century’s leading architects.
Made from concrete, a material emblematic of modern architecture, the handmade bottle cap is finished with gold brushstrokes that convey the artisan's handiwork.

The bottle is engraved with the ATELIER MATERI house logo, expressing the maison's aesthetic, its attention to detail, and its respect for craftsmanship, and the packaging uses paper made from wood certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), the international NGO for forest management.

Eau de Parfum — The 11 Scents
Eau de Parfum comes in a 100mL full bottle and a 10mL travel size. This article introduces the 11 scents available as of September 2026. For the current lineup, sizes, and prices, please see our ATELIER MATERI product list.

As a sample of each scent, you can also request scent strips, so please do try smelling them for yourself.
Now, let's take a look at each of the 11 scents.
Cèdre Figalia

A scent released in March 2024.
Elevated by a masterful combination of vegetable notes like basil and spinach with fig leaf, the moment you spray it you feel a vivid green like tearing a leaf.
Fig, the main note here as pictured, takes on a milky finish reminiscent of milky white.
Cèdre — cedarwood, which is also in the name — elegant and delicate Virginia cedar; fresh and lively Alaska cedar; and warm, enveloping Atlas cedar — three cedarwood essences carefully selected from forests in the southern United States.
At the end, the sweetness of fig and wood stands out and fades away gently.
Cèdre Figalianever makes a flashy statement — I think it's a minimal scent with real character.
Bois d'Ambrette

The citrus of mandarin, the bitterness of ginger, and trees in a forest of beautiful green leaves.
Behind a crisp, upright woodiness at the opening lurks , a mellow, musky sweetness that seems to express the warmth of sunlight filtering through the trees.
The edges gradually soften until that gentle sweetness takes the lead, and I find the slow, graceful way it fades away a beautifully expressed touch.
Bois d'Ambretteis a beautiful scent where refined sharpness and a soft, airy quality coexist.
Cacao Porcelana

A cacao feel that surprises person after person the moment they spray it.
The opening is the sweetest, but not a heavy, sticky confectionery sweetness: it's mainly a light, slightly powdery sweetness in which you can even feel the freshness of cacao as a raw material.
Though gourmand, wood and tobacco come through too; it's captivating on its own, and surprisingly easy to layer as well.
Cacao Porcelanais an iconic scent that fully captures ATELIER MATERI’s character of drawing out the beauty of "materials."
Cuir Nilam

This scent takes its name from "Cuir" (leather, in French) and "Nilam" (patchouli, in Indonesian), so true to its name, leather and patchouli take the lead.
It's a cool scent that evokes soft, supple, oiled leather.
Hearing "leather scent", you may picture something austere, dandy and very masculine, but a hidden touch of noble rose makes this a refined, elegant leather that anyone could wear.
Cuir Nilamis an elegant scent I'd love even people who aren't fond of leather to try.
Iris Ebène

From a deep, weighty scent like an iris root still covered in soil, to a sweet, supple suede leather.
Speaking of leather-toned scents, there's the one I introduced just before this, Cuir Nilam; side by side, Cuir Nilam puts leather at the center, while Iris Ebène feels earthy, with leather within.
Overall, the soft, powdery scent brings to mind an elegant, composed, sophisticated adult vibe.
Among ATELIER MATERI's scents, this one feels comparatively heavy, Iris Ebènebut between the refined quality, it never feels too heavy, making it a scent you could enjoy year-round.
Narcisse Taiji

A clean, vividly green, dewy scent of narcissus.
Leather and patchouli emerge over time as a real accent, and because it never settles into being simply a pretty floral perfume, the top's cleanness and its wild, untamed beauty stand out all the more.
Clean scents tend to seem best suited to hot weather, but like the narcissus that blooms in the cold season and is even called the "snow flower," this Narcisse Taijiis, I think, just as beautiful a scent in the cold, crisp air of winter.
Poivre Pomelo

The light citrus of the top is a pulpy grapefruit, its bitterness expressed through a tingling pepper.
With a faint scent of peony and osmanthus alongside, it becomes a gentle citrus that doesn't lean too far toward fresh.
So rather than for moments when you "want a crisp refresh", I find it's a scent that blends into life and is easy for everyday use.
Poivre Pomelois a scent that many customers, regardless of gender, find really pleasant and end up loving, here in the shop too.
Rose Ardoise

A rose with a freshly cut stem, recalling the moment you open a florist's cooler (the refrigerated display case for flowers).
Unlike the artificial rose perfume those unfamiliar with fragrance might vaguely imagine, I think this is a very neutral rose.
You can also sense an earthiness, a trace of when it bloomed strongly in the field, which is why many men pick it up at the shop too.
Rose Ardoise— give it a try, and it might just change how you think about rose.
Santal Blond

A scent featuring sandalwood, familiar from fragrances and incense, in Atelier Materi's interpretation.
Our most popular scent at the shop, it's a warm, mellow wood marked by a light, silky powderiness.
Not just santal, but the round, rich sweetness of hinoki and tonka bean wraps you in a gentle scent.
The sweetness here isn't gourmand, yet it seems to win over gourmand lovers too.
If you're looking for a smooth scent that blends well with the skin, I do hope you'll give Santal Blondit a try.
Vanille Carbone

Far from a cute vanilla, this encounter of dark, deep vanilla and leather gives off a dark, mysterious air.
From the first spray you'll think, "Ah, so this is grown-up allure..."
A refined black vanilla in Atelier Materi's own interpretation.
It has no sticky heaviness, so please wear it all year round.

Tonka Kumaru

Tonka Kumaru is Atelier Materi's work on the theme of tonka bean.
The creamy, nutty feel and warm sweetness of tonka bean meet the milky nuance of Madagascar vanilla. And musk, entwined with a faint animalic nuance peeking through, leaves a quiet, sensual trail on the skin.
Sweetness takes center stage, yet the finish is calm and composed — a gourmand that fits easily into quiet time spent indoors.
Because it carries the warmth of tonka bean and vanilla, it makes you picture pairing Tonka Kumaru with a fine cashmere knit in the crisp, dry cold — that kind of outfit comes to mind.

Extrait de Parfum — The 4 Scents
Next up is the Extrait de Parfum collection, with a 30% fragrance concentration.
The 50mL bottle carries a dark navy label and a substantial gold cap. These are rich, concentrated scents that show a different face from the Eau de Parfum line.
Burgundy Oud

The deep woody note of oud is wrapped in the bursting sweet-tart fruitiness of blackcurrant (cassis).
It's of course unisex, but if I had to describe it, I imagine many would see it as masculine, cool, with allure and grace.
Burgundy Oud is a scent that reinterprets traditional materials in a modern way, giving off a sensual air.
Ambre Papier

Named "Ambre" (amber) and "Papier" (paper), this scent takes as its theme Armenian paper, a traditional paper incense soaked in sweet resin.
From a light top that recalls the paper incense before it's burned, the sweetness of resin lingers over time.
Blending well with skin and in beautiful harmony with the surrounding air, it's like a thin, pleasant wisp of smoke drifting softly.
Ambre Papier is one I'd love even those who don't want a scent to announce itself too strongly to try.
Néroli Hasbaya

Inspired by muhallebi, a classic Lebanese pistachio dessert, this floral gourmand combines the creamy sweetness of pistachio and almond with the floral, soap-like cleanness of neroli and orange blossom.
Just like Cacao Porcelana, the white cacao scent that's one of the brand's signature gourmands, this one too finishes with a refined sweetness.
The pleasant pairing of pistachio and florals makes it a beautiful gourmand only Atelier Materi could create.

Black Oregano

From a fresh top of herbal essences, it modulates into the deep scent of oregano, patchouli, oud and leather.
For those seeking a sensual, austere scent rather than cuteness or sweetness, I'd recommend Black Oregano.
Within the Eau de Parfum collection, if you're drawn to Iris Ebène or Cuir Nilam, this one is likely to resonate with you too.

Clear, Beautiful Scents
Of the 15 scents introduced here, was there one that caught your interest?
Every ATELIER MATERI scent is clean and refined enough to make you want to describe it as "like clear air."
Many customers tell us their nose never tires of it, which feels like exactly the kind of collection you'd expect from a brand this devoted to its materials.
It's also a little niche, but ATELIER MATERI is particular about its spray, too.
The fine mist lets the perfume settle evenly on the skin without any unevenness.
This fine-mist spray is shared across the 100mL full bottle and 10mL travel size of the Eau de Parfum, as well as the 50mL Extrait de Parfum. Every bottle has a press that makes you want to push it again and again.
It feels like it's packed with the brand's dedication to letting you enjoy top-quality materials at their very best, with no compromise on detail — right down to the beauty of how the scent rises off the skin.
If any of these scents caught your eye, please order the "scent sample: scent strips" from each full-bottle page and give it a try.
I do hope you'll enjoy these wonderful scents.
