Guidi Rosellini introduces the Augusto 1886 loafer.
Based on the classic penny loafer, this pair carries a texture and presence that feel distinctly Guidi Rosellini, setting it apart from conventional dress loafers.

As with previous Guidi Rosellini shoes, the upper is crafted from reverse vacchetta leather.
It is characterized by a matte, deeply nuanced surface and a bold aging process that develops beautifully over time.
Guidi Rosellini’s reverse leather has such a short nap and smooth surface that it can almost be mistaken for suede.
It has a texture that carries refinement within its rawness, making it exceptionally well suited to the classic form of a loafer.

The saddle strap across the instep and the area around the opening are made from full-grain leather.
Against the reverse leather, this creates a natural contrast within the same tonal range.

Around the toe, a rounded stitch detail derived from moccasin construction is applied, while a vertical split-toe seam runs down the center.
These details add a sense of craftsmanship and dimension, setting the shoe apart from cleaner, more formal loafers.

In terms of shape, compared with the brand’s classic derby shoe, the Morosino 1907, the toe appears cleaner and slightly sharper.
However, it is not a narrow, sharply pointed dress loafer. The rounded toe has a moderate sense of volume, making it easy to wear without feeling overly formal or delicate.
It pairs naturally not only with slacks and jackets, but also with more casual pieces such as wide trousers and denim.
In summer, it is also well suited to styling with shorts.
The shoe is constructed using Goodyear welt construction.
It has the durability expected of a classic leather shoe, allowing you to enjoy its aging over many years while repairing and maintaining it as needed.

The nailed details, derived from traditional shoemaking techniques, not only support the structure of the shoe but also reveal the traces of Guidi Rosellini’s approach to shoemaking as a functional tool.
The insole will also darken with wear, gaining depth together with the rest of the shoe.

The shoes come with a dedicated cream, dust bags, and printed materials about the brand.
The leather already contains a generous amount of oil, but if you notice dryness over time, applying the included cream will help the leather become even softer and more supple. Please use it as needed.
The model is available in three colors: Natural, a signature brand color that most clearly shows the aging process; Midnight, a chic shade reminiscent of sumi black ink; and Mars, a beautifully deep burgundy tone.

Due to their construction, loafers cannot be finely adjusted with shoelaces in the way derby shoes or boots can. As a result, they tend to offer a slightly more modest sense of hold compared with lace-up shoes.
Depending on your foot width and instep height, we recommend considering sizing down by around one size from your usual leather shoe size.
For reference, I personally wear size 42 as my true size in the same brand’s Morosino 1907, and size 27 in Tachino Chie’s Guji. For this Augusto 1886, I chose size 41.
They felt slightly tight when first tried on, but after wearing them for a full day, they had already softened and molded to the foot. When worn with thin foot covers, they became comfortable enough to feel a little room.
If you have any concerns about sizing, please feel free to contact us via the chat on our website.
For those looking for a classic loafer with a different presence from standard models, or for those who want something lighter on the feet than derby shoes or boots, this is a pair we highly recommend.

※All Guidi Rosellini pieces are made using natural leather. Variations in dyeing, nap length, and surface texture may be present from pair to pair. Please understand and enjoy these as part of the character of the product.
※Due to in-store try-ons, the QR code sticker on the outsole may show signs of dirt or peeling.
※Please note that the shoe box may show dirt or damage from transport from Italy, and the included cream tin may have small dents.
Guidi Rosellni
Founded in 1896 in Tuscany, Italy, Conceria Guidi e Rosellini was established as a leather tannery and has since built a reputation as one of the world's leading tanneries, supplying materials to many renowned brands.
At the time, Tuscany had easy access to affordable cattle, and the hides of female calves, in particular, were known for their high quality and durability. Against this backdrop, the company also produced work boots designed for laborers and hunters.
Today, Guidi Rosellini presents a collection that revives those original boot designs and traditional craftsmanship for the modern era.
